Every person has there own writing techniques, mine ,by no sense of the word is neat. I like to write quickly and without pausing to much. In scenes like Psycho's famous shower scene meter matters and pausing to much can effect the meaning of the scene. I wanted to show you some of my notes, these are some of my quick hand notes of the shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. These are from my third or fourth viewing, focusing on the cuts and the architecture of each frame. I highly recommend watching whatever you are taking notes on once fully before you even think about picking up a pen and don't touch the pause button this is the viewing where you as the viewer get to enjoy the work. The second one take quick notes on the things you are interested in almost like titles of a book focus on the big things. If you are taking notes for an essay or a specific assignment this is the time you should write down the focuses. If you are a quick writer even doodle down some of the specific times that the topics pop up so you know when to focus even more. The third for me is when you get to just write what your thinking, I do this on a separate page than everything else, I will later come in and categorize each thing under the title they belong in. The main advise that I can give you is, taking notes is an extremely personal thing, you will have to figure out how you like to do it. Finding your rhythm takes time and practice, try taking notes on a movie that you already know and understand then move on to others. So go out and watch movies.
